Terms of Service

The agreement between you and Blockra — what the service does, what it deliberately does not do, and what each of us is responsible for.

Last updated August 2, 2026

These Terms govern your use of Blockra ("we", "us"), a non-custodial payment gateway operated as a sole trader. By creating an account or taking a payment through the service you agree to them.

If you are agreeing on behalf of a company, you confirm you have authority to bind it.

1. What Blockra is

Blockra builds a checkout, watches for payment, and tells you when payment has been made. It does one thing with your money: nothing.

  • Card payments are processed by Stripe under your own Stripe account, connected through Stripe Connect. Stripe is the payment processor and Stripe makes the payout to your bank. Blockra is not a party to the card transaction, holds no card funds, and never receives your Stripe credentials — we store only your Stripe account identifier.
  • Crypto payments are sent by the payer directly to an address derived from an extended public key (an "xpub") you supply. An xpub can derive addresses and watch them; it cannot sign. Blockra therefore cannot spend, move, freeze or recover crypto paid to you.

Blockra is not a bank, an e-money institution, a custodian, a money transmitter, an exchange, a broker or an investment service. It does not hold client money, does not operate a balance on your behalf, and does not convert between currencies. Fiat figures in the dashboard are a valuation for your reporting, not a claim on anything and not an entitlement.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 and legally able to enter a contract. You must not be located in, or ordinarily resident in, a country subject to comprehensive sanctions, and you must not be a person or entity subject to sanctions. See the Acceptable Use Policy.

3. Your account

You are responsible for the accuracy of the information on your account, for keeping your credentials secure, and for everything done under your account or API keys.

  • API keys are shown once. We store a SHA-256 hash and the first eight characters — enough to identify which key made a request, not enough to reconstruct it.
  • We support two-factor authentication and email verification of new devices. Turning them on is your decision and we recommend it.
  • Tell us promptly at support@blockra.io if you believe your account or a key has been compromised.

4. Your keys, and why they are yours

This is the clause that matters most.

  • The extended public keys you connect determine where crypto payments go. If you supply an xpub for a wallet you do not control, payments will go to that wallet and there is nothing we can do about it. Check them.
  • The optional Blockra Wallet generates a recovery phrase in your browser. It is encrypted with a password only you know and stored only on that device. We never receive the phrase or the password, we cannot reset either, and we cannot recover funds if you lose them.
  • Blockchain transactions are irreversible. Once a payment confirms, neither you, the payer, nor Blockra can reverse it.
  • You are solely responsible for the security of your keys, recovery phrases and devices.

5. Plans, fees and billing

  • Blockra charges a recurring subscription, billed monthly or annually in advance until you cancel. Current plans and prices are on the pricing page.
  • Blockra takes no percentage of your payment volume. The plan is the whole of what you pay us.
  • You authorise us to collect it by Direct Debit from the bank account you nominate, through our payment processor GoCardless Ltd, and you confirm you are authorised to set up Direct Debits on that account. We give you advance notice of the amount and date of every collection. Your rights under your Direct Debit scheme — including the Direct Debit Guarantee where it applies — are unaffected by these Terms.
  • The subscription renews automatically for successive periods until cancelled from Settings → Billing.
  • Upgrades take effect immediately and are charged only the difference for the days remaining in the current period. Downgrades take effect at the end of the current period; nothing is charged on the day, and there is no refund for the remainder because you keep the service you paid for.
  • Prices are set per currency and collected in the currency of your bank account. We may change prices for future periods on at least 30 days' notice by email; a change never applies to a period already paid for, and you may cancel before it takes effect.
  • If a collection fails we retry once and then stop. We add no late fees or interest. If the paid period ends unpaid, the account reverts to the free tier and paid features stop applying — your data is not deleted.
  • Network fees (miner or gas fees) are set by the relevant blockchain and are not ours.
  • Stripe's and GoCardless's own processing fees on payments you take are charged by them under your agreement with them.
  • Cancellation, changes and refunds are covered by the Refund and Cancellation Policy.

6. Your obligations to your customers

You are the merchant. The relationship with the payer is yours, not ours.

  • You are responsible for what you sell, for delivering it, and for your own terms, refunds, tax and consumer-law obligations.
  • Refunds to payers are yours to make. Blockra has no refund mechanism: it cannot return a crypto payment, and card and bank refunds are issued by you from your own Stripe or GoCardless dashboard.
  • Card disputes and chargebacks are raised against your Stripe account and answered by you. Direct Debit indemnity claims and returned bank payments are raised against your GoCardless account and answered by you.
  • Bank payments do not settle instantly. Where you accept them, you are responsible for not releasing goods or services until the payment confirms; Blockra holds digital delivery until then, and states the wait to your buyer, but the commercial risk of a payment that is later returned is yours.
  • Where Blockra processes personal data of your customers, it does so on your instructions as a processor. See the Data Processing Agreement.

7. Acceptable use

The Acceptable Use Policy forms part of these Terms. Breaching it breaches this agreement.

8. Availability

We aim to keep Blockra available and will give notice of planned maintenance where we reasonably can, but the service is provided as is and we do not offer a service-level guarantee or uptime commitment. Blockra depends on parties we do not control — Stripe, blockchain networks and their fee markets, node and explorer providers, and hosting and email providers.

One consequence is worth stating plainly: a payment sent on-chain exists whether or not Blockra is running. If our watcher is delayed, the payment still arrives at your address. Only the notification is late.

9. Suspension and termination

You may close your account at any time from the dashboard, provided no payments are in flight.

We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these Terms or the Acceptable Use Policy, that we are legally required to suspend, or that is being used in a way that endangers the service or other users. Where it is lawful and practical, we will tell you why.

Termination does not affect payments already made to your own Stripe account or your own wallet. We could not reach them in any case.

10. Changes to these Terms

We may change these Terms. Material changes will be notified by email or in the dashboard before they take effect, and continued use afterwards is acceptance. The "last updated" date at the top of this page always reflects the current version.

11. Warranties and liability

Blockra is provided as is and as available, without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent the law allows, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for:

  • loss of profit, revenue, goodwill or anticipated savings;
  • loss or corruption of data;
  • losses arising from blockchain networks, forks, reorganisations, congestion or fee markets;
  • losses arising from an incorrect address or extended public key that you supplied;
  • losses arising from your loss of a recovery phrase, password or device;
  • acts or omissions of Stripe, a blockchain, a node provider or any other third party;
  • anything done by your customers.

Where we are liable, our total liability in any twelve-month period is limited to the subscription fees you paid us in that period.

Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence. If you deal as a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.

12. Indemnity

You will indemnify us against claims arising from your use of the service in breach of these Terms or the Acceptable Use Policy, from what you sell, or from your handling of your customers' data.

13. General

  • Assignment. You may not assign this agreement without our consent. We may assign it to a successor of our business.
  • Entire agreement. These Terms, together with the Acceptable Use Policy, Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy, Refund Policy and (where applicable) the Data Processing Agreement, are the whole agreement between us.
  • Severance. If a clause is unenforceable, the rest stands.
  • No waiver. Not enforcing a term is not a waiver of it.

14. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, save that we may seek injunctive relief in any competent court.
