This Policy covers your subscription to Blockra. It does not cover payments you take from your customers — see section 4, which is the part most people are looking for.
1. Plans are a recurring subscription
Blockra plans are a subscription billed monthly or annually in advance. There is no metered billing, no invoice in arrears, and no percentage of your payment volume — the price for your plan and interval is the whole of what we charge.
How it is collected. By Direct Debit from a bank account you authorise once, through your bank's or GoCardless's own page. We never ask you for a sort code or an account number, and no full account number is stored or shown to us. GoCardless Ltd acts as our payment processor for these collections.
You are told before every collection. We email you the exact amount and date in advance of each one, as the Direct Debit schemes require. Where your scheme sets a minimum notice period we give at least that.
The currency is the one you bank in, chosen when you subscribe and fixed to your bank account's scheme afterwards. Prices are set per currency rather than converted at collection time, so the amount does not move because an exchange rate did.
Your protections under the scheme are unaffected by anything in this Policy. Depending on where you bank that may be the Direct Debit Guarantee (Bacs), the 8-week unconditional refund right (SEPA Core), or the equivalent under BECS, ACH, PAD, Autogiro or Betalingsservice. Those rights come from your bank and the scheme, not from us, and nothing here limits them.
2. Cancelling
You can cancel at any time from Settings → Billing. Cancelling stops the plan renewing; it does not end it immediately.
- No further collection is taken. If a collection had failed and a retry was queued, cancelling calls that off as well.
- You keep every paid feature until the end of the period you have already paid for. That date is shown to you when you cancel and is confirmed by email.
- At the end of that period the account reverts to the free plan.
- Nothing is deleted. Your payments, customers, links, webhooks and settings stay exactly where they are. Features above the free plan simply stop applying — for example, your checkout branding comes back and locale pricing switches off.
- Your bank authorisation stays in place unless you remove it, so you can resubscribe without authorising again. You can remove it from Settings → Billing at any time once no subscription is live.
2a. Changing plan
Upgrading takes effect immediately. You are charged only the difference between the two plans for the days remaining in your current period, and your renewal date does not move. The exact figure is shown before you confirm and is the figure collected. Credit is given only for time that was actually paid for — where a collection for the current period failed or was reversed, there is nothing to credit and the screen says so.
Downgrading takes effect at the end of the period. Nothing is charged on the day. You keep the plan you paid for until your renewal date, and the cheaper price applies from the next collection. There is no refund for the remainder, because you keep the service you bought. Selecting your current plan again before that date cancels the pending change.
Moving from monthly to annual starts a new annual term: you are charged a full year less credit for the unused days, and your renewal date moves a year out. Moving from annual to monthly is scheduled like any other downgrade, because you have already paid for the remaining months.
3. Refunds on your Blockra plan
Cooling-off. If you are in the UK or EEA and buy as a consumer, you have a statutory 14-day right to cancel. Because the service is made available immediately, you accept that performance starts at once; if you cancel within 14 days we will refund the amount paid, less a proportionate deduction for the days used.
Discretionary refunds. Outside that, plans are generally non-refundable, but email support@blockra.io and tell us what happened. We will refund in full where:
- you were charged after cancelling;
- you were charged twice for the same period;
- a fault on our side made the paid features unusable for a meaningful part of the period.
We will consider a pro-rata refund for anything else on its merits. We would rather refund an unhappy customer than argue about a subscription.
How a refund is paid. Back to the bank account the Direct Debit was collected from, normally within five to ten business days depending on your bank. We cannot pay a plan refund to a different account or by another method.
This is separate from your scheme rights. You may also be able to claim a refund directly from your bank under the Direct Debit Guarantee, the SEPA 8-week right or your scheme's equivalent. You do not have to ask us first, and asking us does not shorten the time you have to claim from your bank.
4. Refunds to your customers
This is the important part, and it is short.
Blockra has no refund function, and cannot refund your customers for you.
- Crypto payments are irreversible. Once confirmed, no one — not you, not your customer, not Blockra — can reverse them. The coins went to an address derived from your own key, and we have never been able to touch them. If you agree a refund, you send it yourself from your wallet.
- Card payments are refunded by you, in your own Stripe dashboard. The charge was made under your Stripe account, so the refund is yours to issue and the money comes back out of your Stripe balance. Blockra is not in that path.
- Card disputes and chargebacks are raised against your Stripe account and answered by you.
Your own refund policy, and your consumer-law obligations to your customers, are yours. If you sell to UK or EU consumers you will usually need to publish a refund policy of your own — this one is not it, and it does not cover your buyers.
5. Failed collections
If a collection is returned unpaid we tell you in the dashboard and by email: what bounced, the reason your bank gave, and the date of the retry.
- There is one retry, and then we stop. We do not chase payment indefinitely, and we never add late fees, interest or a failed-payment charge.
- A failed collection never takes back time you have already paid for. The money that did not arrive was for the period ahead, so if you are paid through a date you keep every paid feature until that date. Adding a working bank account before then restores the subscription as it was.
- If nothing is collected and the paid period runs out, the account drops to the free plan. Nothing is deleted, and subscribing again restores the paid features.
- A chargeback is different. Where a collection is reversed after the fact, the period it paid for ends with it, because that money has been returned to you.
6. Changes
This Policy is updated as billing changes. The "last updated" date at the top reflects the current version, and material changes are notified by email or in the dashboard.
