A Payment Gateway That Never Touches the Money
Blockra takes card and crypto payments on one checkout and settles both straight to accounts and wallets the merchant already controls. That constraint is the product — everything else follows from it.
Why it works this way
Almost every crypto gateway is custodial. The coins land in the company’s wallet, sit in a balance, and are paid out later. It is easier to build, it makes the fee model simple, and it means the merchant’s money is somebody else’s asset until it is not.
Blockra was custodial too, and then stopped being. Every deposit address is now derived from an extended public key the merchant supplies — a key that can watch an account but mathematically cannot spend from it. Card payments were never ours either: they run through the merchant’s own Stripe connection, so the payout is Stripe’s to make and the dispute is the merchant’s to answer.
The result is a gateway that can build a checkout, watch a chain and tell you the moment money arrived, without ever being able to hold it. That is a smaller business than a custodial one. It is also one where the worst thing that can happen to us does not happen to you.
What we hold ourselves to
Four things, each of which costs us something. That is roughly how you can tell they are real.
We hold nothing
Card payments run through the merchant’s own Stripe account. Crypto payments derive their addresses from the merchant’s own extended public key, which cannot sign. There is no pooled wallet and no balance of yours on our side, so there is nothing for us to freeze, lose or be compelled to hand over.
We do not take a cut of a payment
There is no percentage on top of what you take. Blockra is paid for by the plan, which means our incentives do not quietly change as your volume grows, and a busy month costs you exactly what a quiet one does.
The surface stays small
One resource that matters — a payment — and a handful of ways to make or find one. Every feature that does not earn its place is another thing to learn, another thing to break and another thing we have to keep true.
We say what the software does
Not what it might do, or what a competitor’s does. If something on this site is not built yet, it either does not appear or it says so plainly — including on the pages where that is the less flattering thing to write.
